Confident, Skilled Swimmers – For Life
Our structured, fun and supportive lessons help children build strong technique, water safety, and a lifelong love of swimming.
The Swimwell Way: Swim Well for Life
At Swimwell, we believe swimming is more than a milestone, it’s a skill your child will carry for life. That’s why our lessons focus on solid technique, water confidence, and real-world safety skills from the very beginning.
Whether your child swims for fun, fitness, or future competition, our goal is the same: to help them become a confident, capable swimmer who enjoys the water for years to come.
A Clear Path to Progress
Our structured pathway guides your child from first strokes to advanced technique, using the trusted STA Awards Programme.
Through the Swimwell Stanley Awards and Grades 1–7, children move through each stage with support, developing not just swimming ability, but confidence, independence, and pride in their progress.
Whether they’re just learning to float or perfecting their front crawl, each swimmer follows a clear, consistent path to success
Stanley Stars
For children aged 3 to 5 who are new to swimming lessons, Stanley Stars is the perfect place to start. These fun, engaging sessions focus on building early confidence, coordination, and safety in the water — all without a parent in the pool. With gentle support from our experienced teachers, young swimmers begin to explore floating, kicking, and basic strokes in a structured yet playful environment.
- Ideal for children aged 3-5 new to lessons
- Prepares children for Swimwell Grade 1
- Focus on confidence, movement & fun

Grades 1-2
Perfect for first-timers or graduates of our Stanley Stars programme, this stage is all about building confidence in the water. With friendly, supportive teachers and small class sizes, swimmers learn key fundamentals — including body alignment, balance, and basic propulsion — in a fun, low-pressure environment.
- For complete beginners
- Focus on water confidence & body position
- Small groups with lots of encouragement

Grade 3-4
At this stage, your child will begin to swim more independently and efficiently. We focus on refining technique across all four strokes, improving rhythm and flow, and swimming longer distances with fewer breaks — all while keeping perfect form.
- Clear stroke technique
- Longer swims with better pacing
- Builds stamina and confidence

Grade 5-6
Now we turn up the pace. These grades are designed to develop strength, speed, and stamina, while fine-tuning advanced elements like turns, breathing control, and efficient movement through the water. Your child will be swimming faster, further, and with excellent form.
- Advanced stroke mechanics
- Longer continuous swims
- Improved coordination & endurance

Grade 7
Our final grade prepares swimmers for competitive swimming or advanced aquatic activities. With excellent stroke control, powerful stamina, and refined technique, they’re ready to move into our Advanced & Competitive stream — or simply enjoy being a truly capable, confident swimmer for life.
- High-level proficiency in all strokes
- Race-ready stamina and skill
- Ideal foundation for competitive swimming

FAQ’s
How do you deliver swimming lessons?
Our mainstream swimming lessons are for children aged 3 – 14. We accept 3 year olds, who can be in the pool independently. If parents need to be in the pool with the child, you may want to look at out Toddler swim sessions.
We are a STA Swim School and our focus at the beginning is on water confidence and child-led independence, progressing to teacher led development with skills and practices to cover all aquatic disciplines.
How do I book?
Please Complete this form to register your interest for a place.
One of the team will be in touch to advise if we have any sessions available to suit your requirements or add you to the waitlist. If you don’t hear from us within 1 week, please contact office@swimwell.org.uk
Do you offer trial sessions?
Firstly, if you were to book a trial and love the lesson, we wouldn’t be able to guarantee that a space would be available the following week and this can cause disappointment.
Also, we know that some children will take a couple of weeks to settle into any new activity, so a trial doesn’t always give you a full opportunity to assess the session.
You can join our lessons at any time. Here at Swimwell we are confident that you will love our lessons as much as we do but if, for whatever reason, you decide they aren’t for you, you can leave at any time (refer to our cancellation policy for more information).
How are payments made?
Swimming lessons are paid for through our card subscription service.
When you join you’ll pay upfront for your lessons in your first month. From the 1st of the following month, we will collect an agreed amount from your nominated card.
Once booked, your space is yours until you tell us otherwise. Your lessons will carry forward to one term to the next – so there’s no need to rebook.
There is no minimum contract and you can cancel any time. Please see below for how to cancel.
Can you tell me about the locations of the Swimming Pools.
Do children earn badges?
Yes they do!
We follow the STA award scheme and assess on a continuous basis. You are able to access our customer app on your phone, to see your child’s progress.
Once all skills for the next badge are achieved, you will be notified on the app and the badge can be collected at your next lesson.
Each set of badge and certificate is £5
What happens if I don't want to continue lessons with Swimwell?
If you cancel during July and don’t make payment for August, this will be due for payment should you wish to return at any point in the following 12 months.
This is due to how we pro-rata your payments over 12 equal monthly payments for the 39 weeks of lessons.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
This class is paid for by you and is your choice to attend. No refund will be given for missed lessons.
What happens if Swimwell cancels a lesson?
If you chose not to attend the alternative lesson, no refund is given. If Swimwell cannot provide an alternative lesson, a refund will be issued (see our refund policy for more details)
